As you all know, Pompeo and her husband, Chris Ivery, welcomed a baby girl, about 15 months ago.
 
I am glad to see that they are still excited about their baby, even after such a long time!

Ellen Pompeo was born as the daughter of a salesman, Joseph and Kathleen Pompeo. She was raised as a Catholic and has an Irish and Italian lineage. Her grandparents belonged to Italy. She lost her mother at a tender age; she was just four years old at time of her mother’s death. Her father brought her a stepmother, soon after her mother’s death.

She was working as a bartender at SoHo Bar and Grill in the Upper West Side of the New York City in 1996. It was here that she was approached by an agent, who asked her to appear in commercials. Thus she started her career by appearing in the commercials for Citibank and L'Oréal.

Ellen Pompeo moved to Los Angeles in 2001 and earned a role in the film ‘Moonlight Mile’ in 2002. She appeared as “Karen Page” in the movie ‘Daredevil’. She then got a chance to act in ‘Catch Me if You Can’ and ‘Old School’ during 2002-2003. She also appeared in ‘Coming Soon’, ‘Eventual Wife’, ‘In the Weeds’, ‘Undermind’, ‘Nobody’s Perfect’, ‘Art Heist’, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ and ‘Life of the Party’.

Ellen Pompeo has appeared on television for roles in ‘Law and Order’, ‘Strangers With Candy’, ‘Get Real’, ‘The Job’, ‘Strong Medicine’, ‘Friends’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. She started earning $200,000 per episode for ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ after she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award in 2007.

She fell in love with the fashion photographer Andrew Rosenthal after she met him in Miami, where she used to serve cocktails. However, she got married to Chris Ivery, a record producer, on 9 November 2007. The couple is expecting their first child and an announcement regarding this was made on 19 April 2009.

Ellen Pompeo earned the nomination for the Golden Globe Awards in 2007 for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series-Drama for ‘Grey’s Anatomy’.

She was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award in 2006 and 2008 for the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for her role in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. She won this award in 2007.

Ellen was also nominated for the Teen Choice Award in 2005 and 2006 under 2 different categories.
